Prohibited List

The Prohibited List is one of WADA’s mandatory International Standards that comprehensively identifies substances and methods banned in sport; and serves as a key component of the WADA Code. It is considered the most important parts of global harmonization across the anti-doping movement.

The Prohibited List is classified into different categories; the List identifies Substances and Methods which are banned in and out of Competition, as well as some cases, by specific sport. The Prohibited List is updated annually following an extensive consultation process facilitated by WADA.

When substance or method is included under WADA Prohibited List?

A substance or method will be considered for the WADA Prohibited List if the substance or method meets any two of the following three criteria:
  • It has the potential to enhance or enhances sport performance.
  • It represents an actual or potential health risk to the athlete.
  • It violates the spirit of sport.

The 2015 Prohibited is valid from January 1,2015 until 31December 2015. The most current edition of the List is posted on WADA’s Web site

Under the context of the Strict Liability adopted by the Code, the athlete bears the sole responsibility of what he or she ingested .So whenever a prohibited Substance found in an Athlete’s sample, the violation occurs whether or not the Athlete intentionally or unintentionally used a prohibited substance or was negligent or otherwise at fault.

There are some medications available for some medical conditions may contain prohibited substances You must be aware that these medicines are available in products prescribed by bought over the counter in pharmacy or nutritional supplements stores.


  • Keep your support personnel team all the time informed of the medicines or substances you have ingested or method you have used.
  • Check every single substance or medication before you use it.
